Waynesboro, Georgia

Hi everyone!!!

So I'm in Waynesboro!! I know some of you already know from ward members here, glad you didn't have to wait so long to hear! I am LOVING it here! My companion is Sister Jeppson--she was in my very first zone and she plays softball and once upon a time we were talking about how awesome it would be if we were companions one day and now look where we are--companions in Waynesboro! Boom-bada-boom, we're going to rock this area! Sister Jeppson's mom is the one who had the mission blankets made, the one that says "Sister Applegate, Georgia Macon Mission" on it that I got.  We're in the Augusta Zone of the mission. It's like 5 degrees cooler here than Albany, so it's kind of a big deal. Ha ha. And there are still a ton of nats, but when I tell people I came from Albany, everyone says how much better it is here. So that's good! I loved Albany though. We downsized a wee bit... we live in a trailer out in the boonies. It's about 8 miles to drive into town. A very small town... it's awesome though I love it. I don't love the giant cockroaches or the mouse that is hiding in our kitchen though. Those things can leave. Sister Jeppson and I are both terrified of mice so catching this one should be interesting. It has to be done though, it's eating all our food. Everything has to be hidden in the fridge if we want to have it at all. *shutter*

The Cartmell family from the ward is pretty much the only ward members that live in town...so we usually pack lunch and dinner in a cooler and then spend the day in town, usually stopping at their house if we need anything. They are the greatest family, so missionary minded. And guess what? Brother and Sister Lee met on their mission-guess where they served? Charlotte, North Carolina!! Just a few years after dad. I think they served '92-'94. And they were both in Greensboro at one time and they weren't sure if they knew Zelma or not so if you could do me the biggest favor and get her picture on Facebook and Facebook it to Brother Lee that would be awesome, it would be so amazing if they had known her at all.

This area is wonderful though. There weren't many people progressing but we've started to add to our teaching pool and we are seeing so much potential! We met this woman named Christy and her family and she is so prepared. We've taught her twice and she told us last night how she just keeps getting basically rebuked for sending her children to church but not going herself. Her and her husband have different religious views so it's really hard for her. As we've talked to her though, I just keep seeing this sincerity and change in her eyes. She is recognizing truth and I can tell she's desiring it now. She's welcoming, inviting, reads the things we ask her to, and asks questions! We don't get sincere people like this very often who want to do the things we invite them to do for their own benefit, but Christy wants to know the truth for herself and so she does all the things we invite her to do which only strengthens her faith. Basically, she's awesome. We're teaching another guy named John and his wife Andrea. He's been taught everything required to be baptized, comes to church every week, but still just has one concern we're working with him on. It's amazing to me how solid he is though. His wife doesn't seem as interested, but last night it "randomly" (thank you, Spirit) came out that she is interested in family history and has been trying very hard to find some of her ancestors. And since we as Church members care so much about family history so we can do the needed work for our ancestors, this may be the key with her. It's always amazing to me when we finally are able to see what someone's concern is and then help them with it. Even with Christy last night, she misunderstood one thing from our first lesson and once we explained it better to her, everything was wonderful and we were able to move on. It's just always so cool to me how and when those things happen.

With that, this week it's also clicked to me now more than ever how incredible the Book of Mormon is. The Book of Mormon truly does contain the fulness of the gospel and it answers EVERY CONCERN and question that people have. It is the word of God and it was written for our benefit. There was so much work done to preserve this book because of how important it is, and there are so many people in the world today trying to prove it wrong because they know that everything in the world relies on whether or not this book is true. The Book of Mormon is true. It was inspired by God and preserved by Him for our day. Any question or concern in life is answered by this book. Read it. Study it. I promise you will see that what I have just said is true. Each time I read it I learn more and more, that's why I'm so excited to be starting it over once again.

I'm just super excited to be here in Waynesboro. Being on a mission is the greatest. I did remember Brandon's homecoming yesterday, WELCOME HOME BRANDON!!! I wish I could give you hug, I'm glad you made it home safe! And I hope Whitney had an awesome birthday, the Cartmell's called and we left a voicemail singing 'happy birthday' but never heard anything back... hopefully we punched in the right number! Hopefully that baby comes soon so I can see his cute face! Have the most wonderful time celebrating Independence Day! Enjoy some fireworks for me, we'll be safe and sound in our trailer by 6 pm on lock down for our safety.. haha :) Guess whose dream is about to come true and she can go to bed early?!?! Haha, oh the things that we find so wonderful on a mission :)

Have a fantastic week everyone, I love you and you are in my prayers!

Saying goodbye to Mary in Albany. Saying goodbye was so hard, I definitely made some lasting relationships in Albany. I was doing so well at being composed until we spent some of the last night with Brother and Sister Isberg and I just bawled. They are so wonderful. Being around them and talking about missions and the gospel and our worth really made Sister Trout and I miss the wonderful things like a Father's blessing. The elders were great and it's the same Priesthood no matter what, it's just something about your dad doing it. Thank you dad, I love you :)
